NBA Playoffs Check-in

25% of the teams that qualified for the playoffs have been eliminated. A tip of the cap to the Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Detroit Pistons and the mercifully eliminated Houston Rockets.

The playoffs as a whole have been pretty depressing. The 1st round has been cluttered with boring blowouts, while the close games have been between boring teams to watch. The general conscious was, "Yeah, we have to live through this crap, but wait until the 2nd round. Clips v Warriors! Thunder-Spurs! Fun East matches!

Welp. A chunk of that got taken away from us when the NBA society was hit with a brutal blow to the head. First, Steph Curry sprained his knee, and is out 2 weeks, but probably will not be back to full God mode for the rest of the playoffs. If losing one of the most electrifying and likable players in the history of the league wasn't enough, we also lost 2 OTHER studs in Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Poor Clippers, pulling the double whammy of losing two stars the same day, but really, POOR US!

With the Clippers decimated by injuries, they probably will not even make out of the first round. They are currently going to Portland, down 3-2 in the series. We just got deprived of what would have surely been a bloodbath, yet entertaining bloodbath in a fully healthy Clippers vs Warriors series. Now, we get a Warriors team sans Steph and a Blazers team that just is not as fun to watch as peak-Clippers.

At least the NBA community is guaranteed Spurs-Thunder, which promises to be awesome. Kevin Durant vs the Claw! Russell Westbrook vs everybody! Serge vs LaMarcus! Enes Kanter offensive boards! The Dion Waiters playoff experience! For whatever we got deprived of in Clippers-Warriors, we will gain back in this series. It's just too bad since we were one Steph-CP3-Blake injury away from getting both.

On the East, things are always more boring, but there is still a ton of intrigue. The Cavs have clinched a 2nd round ticket, but who they play is still a question mark. The Hawks-Celts and Pacers-Raps and Hornets-Heat are all 3-2 and I still have no idea who wins any of them.

Well, that's been our Playoff check-in. A bit sobering, yes. But stat least it's still the playoffs.
